Evans (1639-1800) is based on the American Bibliography by Charles Evans and enhanced by Roger Bristol's Supplement to Evans' American Bibliography, first published in microform by Readex in cooperation with the American Antiquarian Society (AAS).

This collection is a foundation set for research involving early American history, literature, philosophy, religion, and more. Series I. Evans is the definitive resource for information about every aspect of life in 17th- and 18th-century America, from agriculture and auctions through foreign affairs, diplomacy, literature, music, religion, the Revolutionary War, temperance, witchcraft, etc.

The digitization of this collection is an ongoing effort. When completed, Evans Digital Edition will include every item previously produced on microform plus more than1,200 additional works located, catalogued and digitized since completion of the earlier effort--more than 36,000 works and 2,400,000 images.

Contains digitized images of the pages of American magazines and journals that originated between 1741, when Andrew Bradford's American Magazine and Benjamin Franklin's General Magazine were launched, and 1900. Deriving from the American Periodicals Series microform collection, APS Online features over 1,100 periodicals spanning nearly 200 years-from colonial times to the advent of American involvement in World War II. Titles range from America's first scientific journal, Medical Repository, to popular magazines like Vanity Fair and Ladies' Home Journal.

The "Calendar" includes the West Indies 1574-1738, and the East Indies, China, Japan and Persia (Iran) 1513-1634. It is a catalogue of state papers comprising extended abstracts or transcripts in modernised spelling of the most important range of British historical material during this time in these territories, which are essential to all historians working on Britain and its colonies.

The material includes a wide range of subject areas such as correspondence to and from colonial governors, orders and grants from central government to local administration, and information from the localities. The material is also important as since it includes correspondence from the colonial governors as well as information about the slave trade and piracy, it comprises one of the most substantial sources of North American history before the Revolution.
